ARMA (American Rock Mechanics Association) is a professional and international engineering and scientific society that promotes interaction among rock mechanics and geomechanics specialists, corporate representatives, and academics. It provides one of the best working groups seeking state-of-the art research and development, commonly expressed through inter-disciplinary analysis and practices, in rock mechanics and geo-engineering. This emphasis is reinforced by maintaining U.S. membership in the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM).
One of the fundamental aspects of ARMA is its commitment to not only building the technical and scientific base of knowledge, but to ensure wide acceptance among current and future researchers and practitioners. This takes the form of student chapters on many campuses of affiliated educational institutions.
A strong student membership ensures future continuity. ARMA provides a communications link, a forum, and an information resource for members, related organizations, and the public. ARMA empowers students to participate in the activities that will address issues, challenges, and opportunities related to ARMA’s mission.
