33rd Annual Short Course on Grouting Fundamentals and Current Practice: Colorado School of Mines, Golden CO June 18-22, 2012
The Colorado School of Mines is hosting the 33rd annual short course on Grouting Fundamentals and Current Practice. This course covers injection grouting as a method to improve soil settlement and strength characteristics, and to decrease permeability of soil and rock masses. Major topics covered include properties of cementitious and chemical grouts, procedures for cement and chemical grouting, field monitoring and verification, grouting rock under dams, grouting of rock anchors and micropiles, deep mixing, jet grouting, diaphragm walls, compaction grouting, slab jacking, structural grouting, and grouting for underground structures. Included in the curriculum is a field demonstration of compaction and permeation grouting, flow of ultrafine cement, grout mixing, use of cellular concrete in annular grouting, overburden drilling, grouting of rock anchors, and use of packers.

- 15 - 19 October 2012, Seoul, Korea
ARMS7 - 7th Asian Rock Mechanics Symposium
The Korean Society for Rock Mechanics (KSRM) - Korean National Group of ISRM - extends a cordial invitation to the international community to attend the 7th Asian Rock Mechanics Symposium, an ISRM regional symposium. The event will be held on October 15-17, 2012 in Seoul, Korea; it is a timely celebration of the 1st Asian Rock Mechanics Symposium that took place fifteen years ago in the same location.

4–7 November 2012, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
2012 GSA Annual Meeting & Exposition
With 181 proposed topical sessions, over 100 discipline sessions, six Pardee sessions, and a few special sessions, 4–7 November 2012 are surely days to anticipate. From geomicrobiology to planetary geology, marine/coastal geology to petroleum geology, Quaternary geology to metamorphic petrology, and geoscience education to paleoclimatology (to name just a few), this year’s program will exhibit outstanding pure science that is well balanced with applied science and education.

- 7-9 November 2012, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
13th World Conference of the Associated research Centers for the Urban Underground Space
(ACUUS 2012 Singapore) will be organised by the Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering Geology (Singapore) in collaboration with the Tunnelling & Underground Construction Society Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and Tongji University of China, and is supported by the Signapore Ministry of National Development and the Singapore Convention and Exhibition Board. The main theme for ACUUS 2012 Singapore is "Underground Space Development – Opportunities and Challenges." This theme was chosen to emphasize the unprecedented opportunities for improving urban infrastructure and urban livability while recognizing the special challenges faced in creating underground spaces - technical, economic, and design challenges in order to address human psychology of underground habitation.
