ARMA News Briefs

4 February 2020

Dear ARMA Members,

Welcome to the new website of the American Rock Mechanics Association!

We invite you to visit and explore our new website [this website]. In addition to the modern redesign, the new ARMA website offers a searchable member directory, an online forum for discussions among our members, and other exciting new features and content. Kindly note that the member directory, member forum, and other member-only features are available only to current ARMA members. While ARMA continues to provide a variety of free open-access materials to the world rock mechanics and geomechanics communities, some special features we reserve for our paying members.

If your ARMA membership is current, you can access member-only content by signing into your member account. Login instructions and other help are provided on the website. Your username is the email associated with your ARMA member account, and for your first login, you can request a computer-generated password on the website. You can change your password and edit your Member Profile when you sign in.

If your membership is due to expire, please renew it on the new website as well. The new ARMA website will be the entry point for all future transactions related to membership in the American Rock Mechanics Association for both current and new members. Technical support is available, should you need help with your account or wish to report an issue with the website. You can contact us either via the web support form provided on the website or by email to support@armarocks.org.

The new ARMA website was created by SciEngArt Inc., which specializes in design and publishing services for engineers, scientists and scholars. The firm was founded by Dr. Violeta M Ivanova, who is also the firm’s principal designer. She is a graduate of and a research affiliate with Prof. Herbert H Einstein’s research group at MIT, a former member of the ARMA Board of Directors, and an MIT instructor in visualization for mathematics, science, and technology education. SciEngArt Inc. also created the Golden 2020 symposium website, where registration for the symposium will open soon.

ARMA staff members Hill Montague, Katy Greco, and Jim Roberts provided assistance during the development of both websites and their integration with the ARMA membership management platform. We also wish to thank the respondents to the feasibility survey in 2019, who provided valuable feedback and insightful ideas about website features that will best serve ARMA’s mission and our members.

Welcome once again to the new ARMA website! Please do not hesitate to contact us, if you need help or wish to provide feedback.

Sincerely,

Peter
