The ARMA Foundation is a sister organization to ARMA. It is a tax-exempt entity that promotes rock mechanics and rock engineering through educational activities. In order to provide funds for these activities, the Foundation recruits Sustaining Members to provide educational benefits to those interested and involved with rock mechanics and geomechanics. The Sustaining Fund helps defray the cost of students attending the annual symposia and provide ARMA the ability to better serve its membership.
The ARMA Foundation’s mission includes:
- Promoting the development and application of rock mechanics, rock engineering and geomechanics worldwide;
- Bringing together individuals from multiple disciplines interested in application of these fields to problems of societal importance;
- Supporting students and young scientists and engineers launching their careers in rock mechanics, rock engineering and geomechanics; and
- Disseminating knowledge and information through symposia, workshops, publications, and other means.
